GIRARD — Dr. Dominic R. DelBene, 91, of Girard, previously of McDonald, handed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, surrounded by his family members.

Dominic was born March 27, 1931, in Youngstown, the son of Michael and Margaret Augustine DelBene. Dominic was a graduate of Girard High University, the College of Cincinnati in 1954 and The Ohio Condition University College of Dentistry in 1958.

He served for the U.S. Army at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C., as a dentist for two decades. Immediately after the services, Dr. DelBene first had his dental place of work on Market Street in Youngstown, then moved his place of work to Girard, wherever he experienced his have exercise from 1964 to 2000, performing with his son, Randall, the past 7 several years.

Dom was a very devoted member of Woodland Park United Methodist Church, and also Girard 1st United Methodist Church, wherever he served numerous roles, which include lay chief, finance chair and Sunday college trainer, and he constantly sang in the choir. His deep devotion and Bible analyze has been an inspiration to all who realized him.

In 1988, he and his wife, Christine, took a particular mission trip to Dominica, in which they offered much-needed dental care. He has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and a lot of other church missions, humbly providing his time.

“Deets” liked all forms of sports and was inducted into the Girard Hall of Fame in its second calendar year. He credited Mentor Phil Koppel for his sporting activities — and daily life — classes. He starred at the College of Cincinnati below Hall of Famer Sid Gilman, where by he was co-captain and held numerous documents. He handed his really like of sporting activities on to his small children and grandchildren, and coached (and played!) with them at just about every stage.

Later on, golf turned his beloved pastime, playing in leagues or with his wife or boys, and creating memorable visits with loved ones and mates.

No matter whether at residence, function or family vacation, Dom was generally kind, humble and compassionate to his family members, mates, neighbors and patients.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved spouse of 69 many years, Christine Irwin DelBene, whom he married Feb. 16, 1953. She was his soulmate, carrying out anything jointly, and his rock, as evidenced by her limitless devotion and adore, ideal to the finish.

His children involve Richard (Bonnie) DelBene of Macedonia, Jeffrey (Patricia) DelBene of Spring, Texas, Dr. Robert DelBene of Waynesville, N.C., and Dr. Randall (Tracy) DelBene of Girard. His brother, Alex (Lena) DelBene of Girard, as well as 14 grandchildren and 16 wonderful-grandchildren, spherical out his wonderful loved ones.

Apart from his mom and dad, he was preceded in dying by his daughter, Linda Schultz.

Funeral companies will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Girard 1st United Methodist Church, the place the loved ones will receive family members and buddies from 5 to 7 p.m., until eventually the time of services.
